Texture, Light, Black and white
Are graphic elements such as tone line and perspective important?
Perspective is very important in this photo because not often does one look so closely as to see the soft etchings within the petals of a rose.
What part of the photo do you look at first? Does your eye move around the photo?
My eyes are drawn to the brightest points of the petals, which itself makes me travel the expanse of the rose. Then my eyes move outwards, to the shock of contrast in the texture of the wood.
What emotional impact does the photo invoke?
Peacefulness, serenity

In the 1920’s used a pictorial style, but under the influence of Paul Strand began using a straight photography style, which is when the clarity of the lens is emphasized and the image has no appearance of manipulation. Adams did manipulate the images however using burning, dodging as well as the Zone System (a system Adams himself created, allowed manipulation of the tonality and made photographers able to create instead of just record).

Minimalistic approach to portaraits, well lit, in front of white backdrops, the images regularly contain the dark outline of the film in which the image was framed. Movement of his subjects is used, also the photos often containing only a portion of the person being photographed, the images seem intimate in their imperfection
